The AWARD WINNING ‘Tabby McTat’ with Lizzie Waterworth and David Holt
Magic Light Pictures’ delightful animated film Tabby McTat—about a London busker and his loyal cat—has won Best Kids Animation at the 52nd International Emmy® Awards. The ceremony took place on November 25 in New York City, and the film features the voices of Just Voices’ Lizzie Waterworth and David Holt.

This marks Magic Light Pictures’ fifth International Emmy® in the category, adding to their wins for Room on the Broom, Revolting Rhymes, Zog, and The Smeds and the Smoos.
Based on the beloved book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, Tabby McTat continues the multi-Oscar-nominated studio’s tradition of bringing classic tales to life. The story follows Fred, a street performer, and his singing cat, Tabby, as they navigate an unexpected separation and try to reunite on London’s bustling streets.
First airing on BBC One and iPlayer on Christmas Day 2023 before the King’s Speech, Tabby McTat captivated 8.6 million viewers, making it the most-watched animated feature from a UK broadcaster during the festive season.
With stunning CGI animation, the film is narrated by former Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker and boasts an incredible voice cast, including Lizzie Waterworth, David Holt, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísú, Cariad Lloyd, Joanna Scanlan, Susan Wokoma, and Rob Brydon as Fred. Directed by Jac Hamman and Sarah Scrimgeour, the adaptation by Max Lang and Suzanne Lang was produced by Barney Goodland and Michael Rose, with music composed by René Aubry and animation by Red Star Studio.
