The future of video game acting – ‘The Pixel Pack’

The world of video game acting is evolving, and at Just Voices, we’re thrilled to see two of our own—Joseph Balderrama (It Takes Two) and David Menkin (Lego Star Wars)—at the forefront of this transformation.
Entertainment Weekly has just published a fantastic article on The Pixel Pack, a newly formed collective of some of the industry’s top video game actors. This initiative aims to champion the craft, highlight the unique challenges facing performers in gaming, and push for better recognition of voice and performance capture work.
Video game acting is more than just voice work—it’s full-body performance. With the rise of performance capture, actors aren’t just lending their voices; they’re bringing characters to life with every movement, expression, and emotional beat. Yet, despite the increasing complexity of their craft, video game actors still face significant challenges.
The Pixel Pack is stepping up to advocate for these issues, ensuring that video game actors get the respect and protection they deserve.
We’re incredibly proud to see Joseph Balderrama and David Menkin as part of this movement.
Joseph Balderrama – Best known for his award-winning role as Cody in It Takes Two, Joseph has brought unforgettable characters to life in multiple AAA titles.
David Menkin – A household name in gaming and animation, David has voiced characters across franchises like Lego Star Wars, Battlefield, and Mirror’s Edge Catalyst.
