Breakfast just got a lot brighter: Sara Cox heads to Radio 2 Breakfast
Now this is glorious news. Sara Cox is heading to the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, taking on one of the biggest and most beloved slots in UK radio when she launches on the weekday show this summer. Sara will move from her current Teatime show to front the 6.30 to 9.30am programme, which reaches 6.5 million listeners a week.
It feels like a brilliant fit. Sara is already one of Radio 2’s most loved voices, and she brings warmth, wit and that unmistakable spark to everything she does. From her much-loved radio work to her screen presence, she has a way of making every project feel lively, warm and completely her own.
There is also something rather full-circle about this moment. Sara has been part of the Radio 2 family since 2011, launched Sounds of the 80s in 2013, moved into weekday evening radio in 2018, and has fronted the station’s much-loved weekday Teatime show for the past seven years. This new chapter feels richly deserved.
And what a run she is on. After raising £11.5 million for BBC Children in Need through her extraordinary Great Northern Marathon Challenge last November, and picking up Audio Presenter of the Year at the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards in March, 2026 is shaping up to be ANOTHER huge year for Sara.
Huge congratulations to Sara on a fabulous new role. Breakfast radio is about to get a serious dose of personality.
